Reading and Writing Groups

As part of the Centre’s mission to support the creation and enjoyment of quality literature, we offer a range of workshop and writing groups where members can develop their skills in a friendly, professional environment.

These groups are provided free to members and each have their own focus area. On top of this, the Centre always does its best to respond to the needs and wishes of its members – if you believe there is scope to introduce a new writing group exploring a new area of writing, we will work with you to bring your vision to live.

Sign-up is required prior to attending any group, and enquiries for all writing groups or suggestions for the creation of a new group can be made by contacting the Centre at director@southcoastwriters.org.au

Our current reading and writing groups are:

Helena Fox is a writer, teacher, and kindness ninja who has many years experience working with young people as a tutor and facilitator in creative writing. The Young Writers Group meets fortnightly at the SCWC office, and exact dates can be found by contacting the Centre.

Because of the specific constrains this workshop is presented with, there are additional costs associated with this group. Every effort is made to keep these costs to a minimum, but prospective members should contact the Centre for more information.

Playing with Drafts Playwriting Group

Facilitator: Joel Burrows

Joel is an emerging playwright whose plays have been performed locally as well as in Canberra and Sydney theatres. The playwriting workshop provides a rare opportunity to develop scriptwriting and stage management skills that address the unique environment of the theatre. The group usually meets on the last Thursday of every month at the SCWC headquarters from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. However, this time is subject to change and members should confirm prior to attending.

Inspiraciones Literarias: Bi-lingual Writers
