Might by Ben Anderson

Ben Anderson Might

Nathan Kirk, an injured ex-basketball star, wants to free himself from the small coastal town of Sandy Bay and the spiralling negativity into which the town is descending.

His plans for a better future are thrown into turmoil when his unstable wife discovers her Aboriginal ancestry and then fervently commits herself to her new-found cultural identity.

Cultures clash and confusion reigns as Nathan becomes embroiled within the web of misunderstanding and contradiction that reaches into the very heart of the modern Australian nation, with its unresolved history of conflict and injustice.

Might is a novel that relentlessly exposes and digs deep into the wound within the Australian imagination, and explores the themes of identity, Aboriginal and Australian culture and the powerful influence that history exerts within the present.
