Word Salad: Shack Life: The Survival Story of Three Communities

Word Salad September Events
Sep 27, 2017 06:00:pm Thirroul Community Centre, Lawrence Hargrave Dr

Special guest Helen Voysey (President of the RNP Coastal Cabins Protection League) will join Word Salad to talk about Shack Life, the chronicles of three shack communities situated in the NSW Royal National Park.

The communities have faced hardship since their construction in The Great Depression, but with the passion of the people and the help of their Protection League, they're still standing tall. Between photographs and interviews with "shackies", Shack Life explores these quintessentially Australian communities.

Copies of Shack Life will be available to purchase on the night.

Free to members of the South Coast Writers Centre. $5 for non-members.

This event is part of the SCWC Word Salad Program, featuring a different literary arts night every Wednesday. Like the Word Salad Facebook page to stay updated!
