Working with an Editor Workshop with Annabel Blay
What happens when you write a book? Contrary to optimistic belief, there are a lot of steps between finishing your manuscript and getting it published. Seeking professional help from an Editor is a vital step in developing your manuscript into something that could be sold in a bookshop, and the working relationship between an author and editor can be difficult to navigate.
The South Coast Writers Centre is inviting Annabel Blay, Executive Senior Editor at Harlequin Books (a division of HarperCollins) to talk about what to expect from an editor, getting the most out of the editorial relationship, how to find the right editor for you, finding an agent, and working towards publication.
Annabel Blay has worked in publishing and bookselling for over twenty years. She has experience as a commissioning editor, freelance editor, a tutor for writers and editors, a bookseller, a rights manager for HarperCollins Australia, and at literary agency Curtis Brown. Annabel was the 2016 Beatrice Davis Editorial Fellow, and is currently Executive Senior Editor at Harlequin Books.
This seminar will take place in The Escarpment Room at Thirroul District Community Centre & Library from 1pm to 3pm on February 29th. Tea & coffee provided. Please bring materials or a device to take notes on.
**EARLY BIRD tickets on sale until midnight on the 12th of February, after which all ticket prices will increase by $10.
