International Women's Day 2014
To celebrate the diversity of voices in writing and beyond, we are again opening our annual International Women's Day writing competition.
This year's theme is "slamming stigma", and women writers are encouraged to submit prose and poetry dealing with or discussing stigma associated with being a woman. Writers can choose to write about: gender roles and expectations; culture; mental health; religion; disability; sexuality and gender diversity; socio-economic status; relationship status; body image; employment; reproductive rights and choices, or any topic the writer wishes.
Winners will be announced on International Women's Day (March 5, 2015) at Wollongong Art Gallery. Winners may also read their entry on the day, if they wish.
Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Send your entries or questions to director@southcoastwriters.org.au. Prose submissions are limited to 750 words and poetry to 40 lines.
This event is a collaboration of The South Coast Writers Centre (SCWC), the Women's Health Service (ISLHD) and Wollongong Art Gallery.
