Ahh, October. The one month we set aside for overindulging in beer and terrifying small children – truly a wonderful time of year. But what's going on at the SCWC during this time? Well, plenty! As we snake our way towards the end of the calendar, we've got at least one event per week to whet your literary appetite.

4 October, Wednesday

Word Salad Open Mic Night

6.00pm – 8.30pm, Jane's Wollongong

The first Wednesday of the month is Open Mic Night at Word Salad, so head on over to Jane's if you want to have a moment in the spotlight, or even if you just want to enjoy listening to other folks perform!

Out and About with Pamela Cook

11.00am – 2.00pm, Bald Hill

Pamela Cook is our first Out and About performer for October, so be sure to join her for this fantastic interactive outdoor writers residency at Bald Hill. Come along for a fun day out, and share your thoughts with this rousing writer of rural romance.

On the second Wednesday of the month, Word Salad serves up some Poetry with Bite, an engaging evening of poetry reading and appreciation, led by Ron Pretty. This week, the focus will be on Victorian era poet Gerard Manley Hopkins.

The SCWC's very own playwright, Joel Burrows, rounds out the month with an appearance at Out and About. Come see one of our rising stars out in the elements for your chance to ask him about any light that might be breaking through yonder window.
