Word Salad in September
by Ashleigh Kelman
Word Salad continues its strong lineup this month with a range of literary treats to spring into the season. Jane's in Wollongong is the place to be every Wednesday night at 6pm to sate your reading and writing needs.
The month kicks off on September 6th with an open mic session all about parody. Sing it, whisper it, perform it; whatever you want to parody is welcome.
September 13th is Poetry with Bite as we discuss Pascale Petit – teacher, translator, visual artist and serial T.S. Eliot Prize shortlistee.
The month's Big Book Club (on September 20th) is reading Georgia Blain's 2017 Stella Prize shortlisted novel, Between a Wolf and a Dog.
To finish the month, special guest Helen Voysey (President of the RNP Coastal Cabins Protection League) will join Word Salad to talk about Shack Life, the chronicles of three shack communities situated in the NSW Royal National Park. This is at the Thirroul Community Centre instead of the usual venue, so please take note.
All of these events are free for SCWC members and $5 for non-members. As always, head over to the Word Salad Facebook page to keep up to date with everything happening.
