April at SCWC

I imagine we're all done marching by now, so let's look forward to April, to that auspicious month that promises flowers down the track in exchange for some showers now. We shall have to see how that promise pans out - we've all been fooled before. Perhaps it's a northern hemisphere thing?

In any case, we ain't foolin' around with this schedule. Have a look at what's coming up!

A panel discussion with Linda Jaivin, Luise Guest, and Laurens Tan about the transcultural in art. The winners of the writing competition will also be announced at the event, and you'll have a chance to say a few words of your own at the open mic section. So come along!

Writing Your Family History Workshop

11.30am - 2.00pm, Wollongong Central Library Theatrette

Facilitated by Sandy Fussell

Everyone's got something to write about their family history, but some might just not know where to start. Well, this might be a good place! This isn't a workshop about research skills, but about how to take what you know and turn it into a story. Bring along a family photo or story to share.

Sydney Writers' Festival- Rocket Readings 

1.00- 3.30pm, Wollongong Art Gallery

This year's poetry event will be presented by MC Linda Godfrey and will feature local poet Jack Oats, and national poet, Todd Turner. The performances will be followed by an open mic and time to chat with the poets over tea and coffee.

Sydney Writers' Festival - Live and Local

Not exactly an April event, but we wanted to give you the heads up, so you'd have time to get your tickets! The SCWC is very proud to be partnering up with Merrigong and Sydney Writers Festival to bring you yet another Live and Local for 2018. We'll have more details as we draw closer to the event.
