Christmas Party Sponsorship from Southern Wild Co

by Yvette Gilfillan

The sapphire-misted mountains,

The hot gold hush of noon.

Green tangle of the brushes,

Where lithe lianas coil,

And orchids deck the tree-tops

And ferns the warm dark soil.

Living in Australia, writers are blessed with wide expanses of bushland. We can jump from stone to stone, over rivulets of trickling water. Our boots hit the ground in a cloud of dust, sun warming our cheeks.

The quiet zing of the whipbird travels through the lofty gums, framing a hazy blue sky. Faded journal and pen in hand, there is no better place to write.

Southern Wild Co is an artisan company who make luxury scented goods inspired by the Australian landscape, art and bush poetry. They create stunning products where everything from the ingredients to the packaging are natural, locally sourced, and visually unique.

Through their work and their web journal, they always pay tribute to our cultural identity whilst building awareness for Australian artists and writers. This couldn’t be a more perfect fit with the aims of the South Coast Writers Centre.

Southern Wild Co was founded in 2017 by Tania Robinson and Hannah Ley, two friends who share a deep love for the Australian bush and all that it inspires.

Their extended home fragrance range showcases essential oils and native Australian botanicals harvested in the wild, to make wherever you live—and wherever you work—feel like home.

At our SCWC Annual Christmas Picnic tomorrow on the 7th of December, from 5 pm – 7 pm at the Wollongong Arts Precinct, Southern Wild Co have kindly donated a selection of beautiful candles to be prizes.

The winners of our HARP writing competition and the Christmas raffle to be held on the night will be the lucky recipients—so make sure you buy a ticket at the picnic! Disclaimer: the scents are absolutely divine.

Thank you so much to Tania, Hannah and their team!
