Obituary – Len Leffley

Len Leffley was a very active member of the South Coast Writers Centre and facilitator of Top Floor Poets, a vivacious group of poets who met every Tuesday in Coniston to workshop their poetry. I have fond memories of him introducing me to the local poetry scene, the politics and the passion, when I first started out as the director at the Centre seven years ago. I also remember Len’s entry when I did my first gig as a poetry competition judge for Viva La Gong; it was a poem about a pony, working in the mines. It showed Len’s compassion for his fellow beings, human and non-human alike, and his passion for life that stayed with him till the end. Len passed away on the 11th of May 2018; he was a pillar in the community of poets and he will be sorely missed.
